Today was an amazing day for the Simcoe Woodturners Guild. We had the great pleasure to be able to host Jimmy Clewes for a full day demonstration.
Jimmy presented a lot of great turning information to the guild members. He explained his methods and why he does things the way he does. He was gracious to point out that the methods he uses are his methods and they are not the only way of doing things.
Sharing his experience as a professional turner, Jimmy explained how and why we can get into troubling situations and how to work out of them by learning what we are hearing in and from the wood and tool.
The projects that he showed us included his interpretation of an oriental winged box and an African drum box. He also showed us how to turn a goblet.
