Annual Woodturning Competition
November 2009

General Rules

  • This competition will be open to any one turning made by the turner up to one year prior to the date of the competition.

  • There will be three categories for this competition, Beginner, Intermediate and Open.

  • For this first competition the judges will assign the category for any turner who doesn't know which category he or she should be in. The decision of the judges will be final.

  • There will be ribbons for first, second, and third in each category. These ribbons will be decided on by the judges.

  • There will also be a ribbon for the Members Choice Award, which will be voted on by the members present. This will be done by ballot.

  • The turning may be functional or artistic. All work done off the lathe can not account for more than 20% of the finished turning.

  • Following the ribbon ceremony there will be a "friendly" critique of the turnings by the judges, outlining why they made their choices and encouragement to others.

  • Winners of a ribbon in each category must move up to the next higher category in the next competition.
